DAY 1: TREKKING TO MACHU PICCHU.
DAY 1
We will pick you up from your hotel at 4 a.m. about. We will travel in our mobility to the Ollantaytambo station, where we will board one of the first trains that leave for the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). The train follows the Urubamba River, until reaching Km 104, where we will begin our walk. Along the way, you'll see spectacular views of farmland, snow-capped mountains, and the mighty Urubamba River, one of the sources of the Amazon River. At kilometer 104 (2,000 masl), the train will make a special stop, we must get off at this point, since this is where we will start our walk. Before starting the trek we will make sure to give you the last indications and that you have all the necessary equipment, we will begin to walk up, while heading towards the Classic Inca Trail. If the weather is clear, we will have an impressive view of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River and other surrounding Inca complexes.
After walking for hours, we will reach the most beautiful Inca site on the Inca Trail, Wiñay Wayna (forever young) at 2,600 masl. / 8,500 feet. Most people who travel to Machu Picchu do not have the opportunity to see such a large water source, temples and some agricultural terraces that provide a perfect opportunity to learn about the history and skills of the Incas. The backdrop to this site falls off a cliff, with beautiful mountains surrounding the area. From Wiñay Wayna, we will walk towards the Puerta del Sol, where we will see the picturesque landscape of Machu Picchu. After enjoying these unique views, we will begin our descent to Machu Picchu.
A great advantage of this trek is that by the time we reach Machu Picchu, most of the travelers who travel in the morning shifts will have left Machu Picchu, so you will have the area to yourself. After taking photos, we take the bus to Aguas Calientes and head to the hotel. In the evening we will visit the "Indio Feliz" restaurant for dinner, which is included in your program. This restaurant is considered to have the best food in Aguas Calientes. After dinner, we recommend going to bed early to make the most of the next day.
